We’re a little more than four weeks away from the second Saturday in December. That’s right. We’re weeks away from the 2023 Historic Decatur Christmas Tour, a classic holiday tradition.
About the 2023 Historic Decatur Christmas Tour
Mark your calendars for the 2023 Historic Decatur Christmas Tour, which is happening on Saturday, Dec. 9th, from 3 to 8 p.m. You don’t want to miss the magic of seeing historic Decatur illuminated by the glow of luminaries, showcasing festive holiday décor.
The annual Historic Decatur Christmas Tour of Homes offers residents and visitors the chance to celebrate the city’s deep-rooted history and explore other areas, including local downtown shops and restaurants.
Find comfy shoes and be prepared to bundle up for an enchanting stroll through the historic streets of Decatur. Prepare to be dazzled by not just the twinkling holiday lights, but also the architectural masterpieces with interesting stories behind them.
Of course, there will be the songs of carolers and delightful carriage rides available for $20. But that’s not all!
What’s on the tour?
Can we get a drum roll from the Little Drummer Boy, please? New to this year’s tour is a beautiful 150-year-old home. The recently renovated home, affectionately known as “Shadowlawn” because of the majestic oak trees around it, is located at 504 Line St.
Along with Shadowlawn’s debut, the home will feature more homes in the Old Decatur Historic District, three homes in the Albany Historic District, three notable churches, the Old State Bank building, the Historic Decatur Union Train Depot and the Carnegie Visual Arts Center.
And, according to reports, the Historic Decatur Association is unveiling lovely new luminaries to add to the warm glow of the night.
Location and ticket information
Old State Bank, still celebrating its milestone 190th July birthday, is serving as headquarters for the 2023 Historic Decatur Christmas Tour. Located at 925 Bank St. NE in downtown, participants can purchase tickets on the day of the event or ahead of time online.
Tickets are on sale now for $30 each. Make plans to arrive for the festivities early to shop, dine and be merry!
