It’s back with plans to be bigger and better than ever! We’re talking about Decatur’s 54th Annual Spirit of America Festival, a two-day celebration scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend at Point Mallard Park.
Celebrate with a Bang!
Make plans now to brighten your Fourth of July weekend by coming to the state’s largest free Independence Day celebration scheduled for Saturday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th!
This year Decatur Parks and Recreation decided to outsource the planning and coordination of the event, including vendor registration. The task was given to faith-based promotions company Touch the Sky Events & Promotions out of Cleveland, TN.
Owner Shannon Wright is determined to make Decatur’s 54th Annual Spirit of America Festival one for the record books! According to reports, she hopes to have at least 100 vendors and up to 24,000 visitors throughout the weekend.
For the first time in five years, there will be children’s activities, even more vendors, and a jammed-packed entertainment lineup.
What to Expect
Expect arts, crafts, food trucks, a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, a parade, fireworks, and much more! In addition to the family fun, the Festival is holding the annual Spirit of America Awards presentation on July 3rd. This special part of the celebration includes awarding the Audie Murphy Patriotism Award among others.
The festival will give an exceptional American patriot or group of individuals who best exemplify the true “Spirit of America” the Audie Murphy Patriotism Award. The award is named in honor of America’s most decorated WWII soldier and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Audie Murphy.
Entertainment starts Sunday at 3 p.m. with a performance by Wright’s daughters playing piano, guitar, and drums. They are followed by North Alabama musician Zoe Welch Burdett from 4 to 5 p.m. Duo Austin and Leb will sing from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with Christian group Xtreme Faith, taking the stage from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Austin and Leb will return to the stage for a comedy show leading up to the fireworks.
The night sky will light up with brilliant bursts and booms at 9 p.m.
Location and Event Hours
Decatur’s 54th Annual Spirit of America Festival will be at Point Mallard Park, located at 2901 Point Mallard Drive. Set along the banks of the Tennessee River, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd. The fun resumes when the fireworks begin Sunday, July 4th, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
